Fun Fall Activities To Do Around Toronto!

Fall is my favourite time of the year as it is for many people, and now that it’s finally here again it’s time to join in the festivities! There are a ton of fun fall activities to do around Toronto and the GTA, from pumpkin patches to fall hikes to cider tastings and more! Here’s a quick list if you’re looking for something to do this fall but need some inspiration.

Pumpkinville & Halloween Nights of Lights

One of the newer experiences in the GTA for fall is Pumpkinville and Halloween Nights of Lights! This popup is located at the Scarborough Town Centre from September 30th to October 31 and has a ton of fall activities to enjoy! There’s a huge pumpkin patch, magnificent pumpkin sculptures created by local artists, midway rides and even pumpkin smashing! If you go at night, you can experience their Halloween Nights of Lights display, which turns into a spooky adventure from 10pm-11pm! You have to purchase tickets in advance since this popup has gotten so popular, and tickets are $12.99 for just the Pumpkinville entry or $19.99 for Pumpkinville and Nights of Lights.

Pingles Farm

Located 50 minutes away from downtown Toronto, near Oshawa, is the iconic Pingles Farm. A very popular attraction in the fall, this farm has a ton of different activities to try out! Pick your own apples or wildflowers, explore the corn maze, hop on a wagon ride or enjoy some of the delicious foods at the market! They even have live music and a bar on the weekends! This is another event that you must purchase tickets in advance for, which you can do on their website. Tickets range from $12-$23 depending on what day of the week you go.

Casa Loma Legends of Horror

If you’re looking for more of a spooky outing, head over to Casa Loma to experience their Legends of Horror immersive theatrical experience. The grounds of the famous Casa Loma are turned into multiple different spooky sets that take you through a walk of the gardens and the castle tunnels. You can go early if you want to walk the trail with no actors around, or arrive after 7pm for the full effect! This one hour experience is definitely not for the feint of heart. Tickets are available online here for between $50-55.

Go on a Fall Hike

There are so many great hiking trails around the GTA, and they turn even more spectacular when the leaves start changing colours. Mono Cliffs Provincial Park is about 1.5 hours outside of Downtown Toronto and is a popular spot in the fall. This hike takes you down into a canyon where you can look up and see the beautiful colours. Rattlesnake Point is only an hour from downtown, and has a towering lookout point to hike up to and take in the fall colours. If you’re looking for a challenge, hike the 99 steps at Thornton Bales Conservation area up near Newmarket. There are a ton of other beautiful trails and hikes both inside and outside of the GTA so get walking!

Unionville, Markham

Many people may not know that the pilot episode of Gilmore Girls was actually shot in Ontario! Specifically in Unionville, Markham. If you’re a fan of the show, take the 50 minute drive to the town that was Stars Hallow for a moment in time and explore all of the cute shops, cafes, and gardens throughout the town.

Go Apple Picking

Of course, one of the best fun fall activities you can’t miss out on is apple picking! There are a lot of different apple orchards around Toronto. One of the more popular farms is Chudleigh’s, which has rows and rows of apple trees to pick from as well as fun activities to explore around the farm. This is a pretty popular spot, so you have to purchase tickets ahead of time. Another local favourite is Pine Farms Orchard. This is more of a strictly apple picking farm, but they also have a cafe and bakeshop to check out!

St. Jacob’s Farmer’s Market

If you’re looking for something to do on a Thursday or a Saturday, take a drive down to Waterloo and visit the St. Jacob’s Farmer’s Market! Located about 1.5 hours from Toronto, this farmer’s market features over 400 different vendors both inside and outside the market. You’ll find fresh produce, fresh baked goods, and various retail booths. Make sure to stop by for some Apple Fritters- a must have!

Ride a Fall Chairlift

Kelso Conservation Area is a really cool spot to see the beautiful fall colours from new heights! Take the ski lift up and down the escarpment to get incredible views of the surrounding area- a perfect fall activity! There are also a ton of trails in this area if you’re up for more of an active adventure. Only 50 minutes outside of Toronto, this is a unique fall experience!

Where Dark Things Dwell Escape Room

If you like escape rooms, try out this spooky one! Where Dark Things Dwell is a nighttime escape room in Toronto where you arrive as travelers in the ancient village of Black Creek. You must save the villagers by lifting the curse before the final bell tolls in 90 minutes! Grab a team of four to compete and get your tickets online for $37-$46.

Halloween Haunt

One of the most popular Halloween attractions in the GTA is Canada’s Wonderland Halloween Haunt. Running from the last week of September to the end of October, there is a ton to do at this spooky adventure. Find your way through terrifying mazes and scare zones, watch incredible live shows, try their spooky food and of course, ride the rides! Tickets range from $44-$110 depending on how you want to spend your scary night!

Halloween on Church Street

If you’re looking for a party on Halloween Night, check out Church Street in Downtown Toronto! Every year the crowds gather on Church Street dressed to the nines in their Halloween costumes. It’s a party no matter the day or the weather, so put on your most creative costume and have fun!
