Build a Vison Board With Me

I’m not gonna lie… 2022 was NOT my year. I had a lot of hope and motivation going into January but it disappeared pretty quickly. I struggled a lot with my depression and feeling lost in my life, and honestly, I didn’t end up meeting any of my goals for the year. I think a lot of that had to do with how I went about setting these goals. I set WAY too many and didn’t break them down into smaller pieces, and I put WAY too much pressure on myself to be perfect right off the bat- so when I wasn’t (cause let’s be honest, who is?) it was easy for me to just give up.

This year, I’m taking a different approach. I want to start by visualizing the girl I want to be- an alter-ego if you will. Every time I make a decision, I want to visualize what that alter-ego would do or say and if that decision will help me become her. In order to do this, I need a strong visual of who this girl is.

I’m starting off by creating a 2023 vision board on Pinterest to encompass everything my alter-ego is and who I am striving to be. I debated making it a physical board but I wanted the ability to constantly add new ideas and inspiration. And lets be honest- who doesn’t love Pinterest? My plan is to create different sections within this board based on different aspects of my life that I want to work on. Lets start with the first one:

1. Overall Aesthetic

My friends have named my alter-ego Nikkie-J. It’s the name my friends call me when I’ve had a couple of shots of tequila and I’m a little over-confident and talkative. I figured my alter-ego should embody someone who is comfortable with themselves and confident in everything they do, so why not embrace the name? This section of my 2023 vision board is what I envision Nikkie-J’s aesthetic to be. Confident, stylish, flirty, adventurous, and successful. I always alternate between liking a dark baddie vs. a soft girly theme, so its a mix of both.

2. Health & Fitness

The next section for my 2023 vision board is health & fitness. I have really lost focus on taking care of my body in the last couple of years and it has affected so many different areas of my life, from my mental health to my self-confidence to my overall physical capabilities. I really want to re-focus on my health but from a different perspective than I normally do. I want to work out and eat healthy not so I can look good and fit into smaller clothes (which is obviously still a bonus) but to improve my mental health. I have always looked at fitness as a way to look good, and I wish it was more ingrained in us from an early age that exercise helps with so much more than that.

My main fitness goals are to become stronger, more flexible, and to fill my body with nutritious food instead of resorting to unhealthy foods and delivery. UberEats really is the bane of my existence. Instead of ordering food when I get too tired or lazy, I want to have healthy options already prepped so I don’t have any excuses. Not to say I’m going to deny myself foods because they’re unhealthy- I just need more structure and self-discipline in 2023. I feel like Nikkie-J would focus on eating nutritious food that fuels her body, rather than constantly giving in to comfort food.

3. Travel

The next section is all about travel. I LOVE to travel and I want to explore as many new places as possible. I want to make saving money for travel a huge priority in 2023 so I can go out and experience more of the world. I have always wanted to work and live in another country for as long as I can remember, so I’m manifesting the ability to do more of that in the new year. The goal is to visit at least one different country and one new province in 2023.

A huge part of this involves my career as well. I am so unsure of what I want to do, but I know for a fact that I want to either work for myself or work remotely so I can be anywhere in the world. For the last 11 years I’ve worked shift work/a regular 9-5 job and it just really isn’t for me. I hate that I have to plan my life around a job. So, part of this section of my 2023 vision board includes a career change that will allow me to do what I want when I want from wherever I want.

4. Cycle/Hormone Balance

This year I really started to notice just how much my menstrual cycle affected my health, both mentally and physically. I have always noticed the usual cramps and bloating that came just before my period, but I have never paid attention to the rest of my cycle. I started seeing Tiktoks come up on my FYP about cycle syncing, different workouts you should do during specific phases of your cycle, and even how to be more productive during different days of your cycle. At first, I thought it was a load of crap. But after doing some more research on my own I’ve decided I want to really focus on it in 2023 to see if cycle syncing works. Pinterest has so many great visual guides for things like this so that is why I created this section in my 2023 vision board.

Another part of this section is gut health. This pairs well with my health & fitness board, and honestly I could have just pinned these guides there as well but I thought it was better suited with the cycle syncing. My gut health is definitely very poor- I haven’t been paying ANY thought to what I put in my body and how it could be affecting other areas of my life. I want to try some of these tricks out in 2023 to see if it will improve not only my bloating and weight, but my acne issues and even some of my mental health issues.

5. Astrology/Spirituality

Astrology, the moon, manifestation, and crystals have always intrigued me to no end, yet I have never taken the time to really learn what they’re all about and how to use them in my daily routine. I have never been a spiritual person, but I think it is important to introduce some form of it in my life. I think Nikkie-J practices a lot of manifestation and pays attention to the moon and angel numbers, even if it’s just a placebo effect. I’ve always thought the universe controlled things in my life, and I want to tap more into that in 2023.

6. Inspirational Quotes

My favourite section on my 2023 vision board is the inspirational quotes section. Nothing makes me inspired to reach Nikkie-J status than some good quotes or paragraphs about how I can control my life and do whatever I want to do. I’m not sure why written quotes motivate me so much more than images do- maybe because I find it easier to see myself in those situations when there isn’t an existing visual. Either way, I’ve been reading these quotes daily and adding to this section more than the others because it makes me so excited to finally take steps towards becoming Nikkie-J.

That’s it for my 2023 vision board! What is on your 2023 vision board? Let me know!
